Rescue Technician
Job description
24 Hr Safety is currently recruiting Full-time Rescue Technicians to provide technical rescue standby for customer projects, to include confined space, high angle, fire, and hazmat emergencies. Rescue Technicians are assigned work in various refineries, chemical plants pipeline, and terminal facilities. The technician ensures the safety of victims, co-workers, and bystanders during emergencies and works in compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other safety standards.Position Duties/Responsibilities:
- Work under the direction of the lead rescuer and in conjunction with other team members to ensure a safe and efficient rescue response
- Ensure proper understanding of the rescue plan and their respective role in case of emergency
- Set up anchor points and rescue systems prior to job start to facilitate procedures in the rescue plan
- Perform entry and non-entry rescue maneuvers to extricate victim(s) from confined space or high angle environments
- Package victim(s) accordingly to allow for proper egress and spinal stabilization
- Assist lead rescuer with basic first aid until care is transferred to emergency medical response team
- Maintain an active role in ensuring proper work safety for self and others in the surrounding area through safety meetings and shared vigilance
- Other duties as assigned
Execute technical rescue operations in hazardous and non-hazardous environments.
Operate and maintain rescue tools and equipment such as ropes, harnesses, air monitoring devices, SCBAs, and stretchers.
Perform site assessments and hazard identification prior to beginning rescue operations.
Assist in developing and implementing rescue pre-plans.
Participate in regular drills and training to maintain certifications and readiness.
Document rescue operations and equipment maintenance logs.
Provide emergency medical care within the scope of training until EMS arrival.
Work collaboratively with fire departments, EMS, law enforcement, and site personnel
Employment Requirements:
- Must be 21 years of age or older – insurability requirements
- TWIC – required to enter most customer facilities (may be applied for and issued during the onboarding process)
- Homeland Security Background Check
- Valid driver’s license / MVR
- Pre-Employment Drug; Alcohol Testing / Post-employment random Drug; Alcohol Testing
- Pre-Employment DOT Physical
Strong knowledge of OSHA 1910.146, NFPA 1006, and related standards.
Ability to work in physically demanding, high-stress environments.
Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements
Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs.
Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and in various weather conditions.
Capable of wearing full personal protective equipment (PPE), including SCBA.
Work Schedule
Variable schedule including weekends, holidays, and on-call rotations as needed
